Project Description

The GREENByte project addresses the growing environmental impact of the ICT sector by integrating Green Software Engineering (GSE) and energy-efficient programming practices into higher education. Responding to the lack of sustainability-oriented digital curricula, the project brings together universities, research institutions, and innovation organisations to develop a structured educational framework that equips students and educators with essential green digital skills. Through the creation of a GSE Skills Blueprint, an innovative Studium, and the GREENByte Hub, the project combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning, open educational resources, and industry collaboration. By fostering interdisciplinary cooperation and aligning academic content with real-world challenges, GREENByte supports a systemic shift toward sustainable software development and responsible digital transformation across European higher education institutions.
