Slovenia has a well-developed digital infrastructure and a strong policy environment for the green and digital transition, creating favourable conditions for Green Software Engineering. The country is actively involved in several advanced and emerging technology fields. Nevertheless, digital skills remain an area for improvement, and the share of ICT specialists continues to be below the EU average, indicating a need to strengthen advanced digital education and the technology talent pipeline. GREENByte research shows that students are highly motivated to learn sustainable software development, while academics are seeking curriculum guidance, structured teaching materials, and practical activities. Industry has already adopted many lean coding and software optimisation practices, providing a strong basis for further development. The next challenge is to expand the systematic use of energy-efficient programming, software carbon-awareness, and energy-measurement tools across both education and professional software development.
