Türkiye increasingly recognises that green and digital transformation must advance together and that software professionals will play an important role in this process. This policy direction is reflected in measures supporting technological advancement and the green and digital transformation of businesses. Türkiye has also introduced a national cybersecurity strategy and continues to support innovation and entrepreneurship through organisations and programmes involving institutions such as TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB. GREENByte research identified exceptionally high motivation among students to develop practical Green Software competencies. Academics are ready to introduce sustainability into university programmes but need structured learning content, practical exercises, and tools for evaluating software efficiency. Industry already applies many lean coding, cloud optimisation, and resource-management principles, while energy-aware software engineering and systematic software-energy measurement remain developing areas. Through GREENByte, universities and businesses can work together to equip future software engineers with the technical knowledge, environmental awareness, and practical tools needed to contribute to Türkiye’s sustainable digital future.
